Butterfly Habitat

Tip: Butterflies prefer warm & sunny days! That is when they are most active. Rainy or overcast days make them chill out.  When planning a trip to visit the butterfly habitat pick days with plenty of sunshine for the best experience. Note: The habitat section of our facility is closed when it is raining. The gift shop remains open and our staff is available to answer your questions. The habitat will reopen when the rain stops.

At present, we have a small, but charming, outdoor backyard-inspired habitat featuring native butterflies and plants that we hope will get you curious about what you can do with your own backyard.

Our outdoor enclosed butterfly habitat is open to the public seasonally. We have a wide variety of butterflies native to the New England area. We update the habitat every year to provide the best experience we can for both our guests and the butterflies. We use native plants whenever possible. We hope that the habitat provides inspiration for your own backyard or patio.

Our seasonal native butterfly habitat is conveniently located off the Scenic Highway. Stop by for a quick visit on your way to or from the Cape!
