Columbine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Columbine.

Aquilegia canadensis is native to the prairies and meadows of the US. It prefers well-drained but moist soil, however it is drought tolerant. This wildflower is also deer-resistant. Its uniquely shaped flowers are a great addition to any garden.

Columbine is the host plant for the Columbine duskywing butterfly. As an early bloomer with a tubular shape, it is also one of the first nectar sources for butterflies, bees and hummingbirds.
